Valley National Financial Advisors is seeking a full-time Director of Research & Investments to serve as an active contributor and centralized resource for the Investment Department. This position will report to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Head up all research activities whether on individual investments (stocks/bonds) or investment themes and strategies (small cap vs. large cap/duration on fixed income)
- Perform comparison research reports on investments & strategies.
- Present research findings to investment department and advisors.
Lead research (technical & fundamental) on proprietary dividend growth strategy.
Monitor performance of mutual funds and ETFs, alternative assets, and proprietary equity strategies. Establish key performance (KPIs) for providers and monitor as necessary.
Maintain risk management protocols to ensure advisors are following Investment Department recommendations.
Assist with creation of weekly investment market reports for internal and external use.
Participate and/or lead weekly investment committee meetings.
Participate as needed in client portfolio review meetings which include current market and economic discussions.
Assist with yearly asset allocation model design and adjustment.
Maintaining a variety of portfolio analytic reports on investment managers and client portfolios.
Maintain information systems with heavy emphasis on maintaining a proprietary database, to capture the universe of available investment opportunities.
Generate new investment ideas for internally managed equity strategies.
Assist with compliance at all levels for investment department.
Serve as an additional centralized resource for the production and development of investment plans/proposals for prospects and clients on an as needed basis.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field with 5+ years' experience as a client-facing research analyst.
Progress towards a CFA® designation or equivalent advanced degree
FINRA Series 7 and 66 or 65 licenses.
Must be comfortable communicating with clients and have strong interpersonal skills.
Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
Excellent oral and written communication skills - must be able to come up with original ideas and effectively communicate them to the Investment Committee.
Experience conducting manager due diligence.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Working knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, along with a fundamental knowledge of financial planning principles.
Experience working with CRM software (Tamarac experience is preferred)
